The Chicago Bulls signed Lithuanian free agent Darius Songaila to a two-year contract on Friday that will reportedly pay him $2.2 million (Ђ1.8 million) next season.
Songaila spent two seasons with the Sacramento Kings, averaging 7.5 points and 4.2 rebounds last season. The 6-foot-8 (2.03-meter) Songaila has an option for 2006-07.
That front line includes the recently re-signed Tyson Chandler, free-agent acquisition Malik Allen and perhaps Eddy Curry, who is an unsigned restricted free agent. Curry missed the final 13 games of the regular season and the playoffs because of an irregular heartbeat. The Bulls have the right to match any offer, but other teams have shown little interest in Curry, who averaged 16.1 points and 5.4 rebounds. Paxson said Curry must take more tests to rule out health issues before he puts on a Bulls uniform, Chicago Sun-Times reports.
