Why One AirPod Dies Faster—and How to Solve It

One AirPod Drains Faster Than the Other? Here's How to Fix It

After years of using Apple devices, you may periodically run into a recurring problem with AirPods—and it doesn’t matter whether you are using standard AirPods or the Pro version. Eventually, one earbud starts draining battery significantly faster than the other.

One AirPod suddenly warning of low battery while the other still has plenty of juice left is extremely annoying. Yet, do not have to go the Apple Store to fix the problem.

How to Fix Battery Desynchronization in AirPods

This kind of imbalance can occur out of nowhere when one earbud ends up handling more workload than the other. Fortunately, there’s a quick fix: a complete reset.

Here’s how to do it:

  • Open your iPhone and go to Settings → Bluetooth
  • Find your AirPods in the list and tap Forget This Device
  • Place both AirPods in the charging case and close the lid for about one minute
  • Open the lid but leave the AirPods inside
  • Press and hold the button on the back of the case until the LED light begins to flash
  • Bring the case close to your iPhone and follow the on-screen instructions to reconnect the AirPods
After doing this, both AirPods should start using battery evenly again. If the issue returns, just repeat the reset—it usually only takes one try.

It’s a surprisingly simple solution, but as of now, it’s the only one that works reliably. Try it before you consider sending your AirPods in for repair.
