Alcohol intoxication death rate grows 8.1 percent Russia

The accidental alcohol intoxication death rate grew 8.1 percent inJanuary-May 2002 as compared to the figure posted for January-May of lastyear in Russia, the National Alcohol Association reported. The death tollfor the specified period was 18,224 people, while the figure posted for thefirst five months of 2001 was 16,858 people. 30.7 cases of lethal alcoholintoxication per 100,000 people were registered in Russia in January-May2002, an increase of 8.9 percent from the level posted in January-May oflast year. .
