Mexico makes progress toward declaring country bird-flu free

Mexico has made "great progress" in combatting a possible bird flu outbreak in the country and has declared 15 of its 31 states &to=http://english.pravda.ru/main/18/87/347/16346_birdflu.html' target=_blank>bird flu free, an agriculture official said Wednesday.

Jose Antonio del Valle, director of animal health for Mexico's Agriculture Department, said it is hoped all 31 states and the capital will be officially free of bird flu before the end of 2006.
