Russian Moslems will take part in the 25th international competition of reciters of the Koran, which will be held in Mecca /Saudi Arabia/ in September.
In the Moslem sacred city Russia will be represented by 5 participants from Tatarstan, the Orenburg region, Perm and other regions, whose names are unknown yet, the press service of the Union of Russian Muftis reported.
The partakers will compete in 5 categories, including reading the Koran by heart and commenting on the Islamic scripture.
"We have taken part in competitions like this for a decade," Rushan Abbyasov, director of the International Department of the Union of Russian Muftis, remarked.
