Russian Moslems will take part in the 25th international competition of reciters of the Koran, which will be held in Mecca /Saudi Arabia/ in September.

In the Moslem sacred city Russia will be represented by 5 participants from Tatarstan, the Orenburg region, Perm and other regions, whose names are unknown yet, the press service of the Union of Russian Muftis reported.

The partakers will compete in 5 categories, including reading the Koran by heart and commenting on the Islamic scripture.

"We have taken part in competitions like this for a decade," Rushan Abbyasov, director of the International Department of the Union of Russian Muftis, remarked. "Of course, this is not so long as other countries have." "Nevertheless, Russians are seeking only victory," the representative of the Union of Russian Muftis assured.
