A festival entitled Days of Karelia will begin today in Finland. As a Rosbalt correspondent was informed by Alexander Smirnov, press secretary to the head of the Karelian Republic, the opening ceremony will take place at the Russian Centre of Science and Culture located at the Russian embassy in Finland. During the festival a delegation from Karelia will hold talks with Finnish businessmen and entrepreneurs.
As Head of the Karelian Republic Sergei Katanandov said, the change of government in Finland has made the Karelian leadership interested 'in consolidating mutually productive economic ties with the new leaders of Finland. We have to make it clear at the highest level that the Karelian Republic is open for investment and doing business,' said Mr Katanandov.
A number of concerts by Karelian musicians will also be held as part of the festival as well as a photo exhibition and woodcarving and weaving exhibitions.
