Russian sports star Anastasia Myskina entered semifinals WTA Tour's Sunfeast Open

Top-seeded Anastasia Myskina of Russia and Croatia's seventh-seeded Karolina Sprem on Friday entered the semifinals the WTA Tour's US$170,000 (Ђ140,000) Sunfeast Open.

Myskina defeated India's Shikha Uberoi 6-4, 6-2, while Sprem raced to a 6-3, 6-1 victory in the quarterfinal against Hungary's Melinda Czink.

Myskina's opponent in Saturday's semifinal will be unseeded Kaia Kanepi of Estonia, who overcame the higher-ranked Sybille Bammer of Austria 7-5, 6-3.

Kanepi, ranked 172nd in the world, made her first entry into the semifinals of a WTA Tour event by outplaying the 97th-ranked Bammer.

"I'm delighted after managing to reach the semifinal of a WTA tournament for the first time," said Kanepi. "It did not bother me before the match that I was playing a player ranked higher than me."
