Yury Yekhanurov, the candidate for nomination as new prime minister was rejected by Ukraine's parliament on Tuesday.
The rejection of Yekhanurov, a technocrat and President Viktor Yushhenko's long-time loyalist, dealt a blow to embattled Yushchenko, who sacked his cabinet two weeks ago after calling it too divided to continue work, China View reports.
Yekhanurov needed 226 votes for his nomination to be confirmed, but got three votes less in the 450-seat chamber.
