Putin, Schroeder come out for expansion of Russian-German gas links

Russian President Vladimir Putin and German chancellor Gerhard Schroeder hail the decision of Russian Gazprom and German EON AG to cooperate in gas and electric energy production and other projects, the Kremlin press service said.

The development of gas resources and expansion of gas infrastructure is of key importance to cover additional demand on the natural gas market and provide stability and security of gas supplies to Germany and Europe.

Vladimir Putin and Gerhard Schroeder came out for the expansion of Russian-German links in gas production and transportation and the energy sphere as a whole. The two leaders assign priority to energy cooperation at the level of enterprises.

The Russian and German governments will maintain close contacts on these projects and regularly exchange information on their implementation in order to minimize possible non-commercial risks and eliminate obstacles preventing the implementation at the European level.
