Anti-Monopoly Ministry puts off decision on merger of YUKOS and Sibneft

The Russian Anti-Monopoly Ministry has postponed the decision on a joint petition submitted by YUKOS and Sibneft regarding their merger, the ministry's press service reported to RBC. The petition was sent on June 6, and additional documents were submitted on July 23. Now, all the presented documents are being studied. Sources in the ministry noted that such a long time of analyzing the documents was due to their large volume and a necessity to coordinate with state departments and agencies of Russian regions and territories where the merger would have a direct effect on the competitive equilibrium in the oil sector. According to earlier reports, the ministry's decision would be published this week.
