Russia sets up committee for settling property disputes in connection with Tu-154 crash in Germany

The Russian government has set up an inter-departmental committee for settling possible property disputes in foreign courts in connection with the Tu-154 crash, which on July 2nd collided with a cargo Boeing-757 above Germany, said the department of governmental information on Wednesday. The department recalled that in compliance with international regulations the crash is investigated by the authorities of the country where it occurred.

The new committee will be cooperating with foreign bodies in order to find out the circumstances of the crash, to consider claims and to estimate damage. The compensations will be considered after the investigation is completed and the guilty party is named. The committee is headed by Russian deputy foreign minister Sergei Razov and comprises representatives from the finance, labour and justice ministries.

The government committee for rendering urgent help to the crash victims' families and eliminating the consequences of the crash set up immediately after the catastrophe and headed by deputy prime minister Viktor Khristenko has completed its activities, the department recalled. The committee took part in the identification of the bodies, their delivery for burial, as well as in the organization of funerals and mourning ceremonies. It helped the relatives of the crash victims to visit the scene of the catastrophe.

The relatives have already received a compensation of 30,000 roubles for each crash victim. The government has started paying out urgent primary insurance compensations of 100,000 roubles per each passenger and crew member who died in the crash.
