Russian government to get down to programme of gas industry reform

The Russian government plans to "get down to a programme of reforming the country's gas industry" in December, Russian Prime Minister was quoted as saying at the Thursday cabinet session.

According to him, the gas industry is the last out of the three monopolies to be reformed. Kasyanov also said that in autumn, the cabinet was highly likely to adopt a number of laws concerning the energy sector and subsequently get down to the gas industry. According to Kasyanov, the reform's primary objective was to improve "the competition basis" of this economic sector of the utmost importance.
