Statistics Committee reports data on average daily oil output in Russia

The average oil output increased in the first half of this year in 20 out of 36 oil-producing regions of Russia as compared to the figures reported in the first half of 2001, including Chechnya - an increase by a factor of 3.1, the Republic of Komi - 6.5%, the Tomsk region - 21.5 percent, the Samara region - 16.2 percent, the Orenburg region - 13.8 percent, the Tyumen region (the major oil-producing region of Russia) - 9.7 percent. According to data reported by the Russian State Statistics Committee, the average daily oil output dropped in the Sakhalin region (by 16.5 percent), the Arkhangelsk region (6.4 percent) and Volgograd region (2.3 percent). The average oil output increased as compared to the figures posted in the similar period of 2001 in the Tomsk region (by 10.8 percent), the Tyumen region (2.8 percent), the Astrakhan region (1.6 percent); a decrease was posted by the Republic of Komi (9.8 percent) and the Orenburg region (6.2 percent).
