Middle East: Peres prepared to accept Arafat

Israeli Foreign Minister Shimon Peres has declared that he is prepared to accept Yasser Arafat as Palestine Authority President, on condition that there are reforms.

“If Arafat proceeds with the reforms, the situation would lose its urgent nature. Once again, he avoids action. I should remind him that until now he has done nothing, he has not even lifted a finger”, he declared in an interview with the BBC.
