Gennady Seleznyov, the Chairman of the State Duma, or the lower house of the Russian parliament, thinks slackening commodity circulation between countries of the Commonwealth of Independent States is "an extremely negative tendency." The slackening in fact concerns import as well as export, Seleznyov told the 6th Petersburg Economic Forum on Wednesday.
Reminding the assembly that they are expected to sign a number of investment projects and agreements, the speaker remarked that investment was "the foundation of the whole integration process" in the CIS.
Speaking about law-making in the CIS, Seleznyov said not everything was going smoothly in that particular field. "There has to be coordination between laws," he stressed. "Successful development of economy and foreign-trade links depends on high-quality law-making."
