Photo exhibition dedicated to the memory of writer Viktor Astafiev

A photo exhibition dedicated to the memory of Russian writer Viktor Astafiev, who passed away last November, opened in the Eastern Siberian administrative center of Krasnoyarsk on Monday. Called "That's the Way He Was," the exhibition had been timed to coincide with two events: Victory Day and Astafiev's 78th birth anniversary. The display features 85 black-and-white and color photographs made by local reporters and covers almost 30 years of the writer's life, showing him in all kinds of life situations -- in a dinner-jacket and in a quilted jacket, in hours of leisure and at work, among statesmen and among the residents of his native village of Ovsyanka 20 km away from Krasnoyarsk.
