The temporary status of Chechnya's executive bodies has been terminated by the Russian president's decree "On the System of Bodies of the Executive Branch in the Chechen Republic." In the previous decree of June 8, 2000, the president stipulated a temporary system of executive bodies in Chechnya, RIA Novosti reports. The post of Chechnya's temporary administration head was established in keeping with the decree. Ahmad Kadyrov, a former spiritual leader of the Chechens, was appointed to the position. The post of the Chechen administration head will be preserved until new elections in the republic, in keeping with today's decree. The administration head now has the right to appoint and dismiss the chairman of the Chechen government, who shall serve as Kadyrov's deputy. Itar-Tass has announced that Kadyrov appointed Stanislav Iliasov to this position.
