Shirvani Basayev more alive than dead

Despite presidential aide Sergei Yastrzhembski’s assertions, Pravda.ru has from the start had some doubts about the news of Chechen warlord Shirvani Basayev being dead. Now, information came in validating those doubts. Vsevolod Chernov, Chechnya’s procurator said that the procurator’s office kept on searching for the Basayev brothers, including Shirvani allegedly killed in the course of the special raid, Interfax reports. “We shall keep on searching for both the Basayevs and other bandits, since they are accused of committing grave crimes. Even if they are dead, we shall, all the same, keep on the search until we ascertain the fact of their death,” says the procurator. As for the information of Shirvani’s death, it cannot be confirmed so far, according to Mr. Chernov.
