Russian Defence Minister Igor Sergeyev, who is currently in Havana with the Russian delegation accompanying President Valdimir Putin, and his Cuban counterpart Raul Castro signed on Friday documents “concerning a military and technical cooperation between the two countries,” RIA Novosti reports without elaboration citing the Cuban television. According to Cuban media, the talks between the two countries’ military chiefs passed off “in the friendly and cordial atmosphere.” In the course of his visit, Mr. Putin visited the Russian Defence Ministry’s radio-electronic centre located in Havana’s outskirts. President Putin told today’s news conference that Russia and Cuba were interested in keeping the centre operational.
