POPE’S WIFE WRITES LETTERS TO RUSSIAN PRESIDENT

Sheril, the wife of American businessman Edmond Pope accused of spying, wrote on Tuesday a second letter to President Vladimir Putin. Mr. Pope’s spouse “begged him to permit her husband to be taken to hospital.” She herself told journalist about it today, before Mr. Pope’s final plea to be delivered in court. In Mrs. Pope’s words, her husband’s health condition is very poor, and she asks Russian President to free him “in a humanitarian act,” Interfax reports. She has not received any answer to her first letter to the President, Mrs. Pope added.
