PALESTINIAN OPPOSITION AGAINST CEASE-FIRE

Representatives of Palestinian opposition said yesterday that anti-Israeli demonstrations on West Bank and Gaza strip would be continued despite the accord signed by Yassir Arafat and Ehud Barak calling for clashes to be ended. Ahmed Yassin, spiritual leader of the hard line Islamic group Hamas, said that accords signed in Sharm el-Sheikh have nothing to do with his movement. “The agreement does not concern us, since it has been imposed on the Palestinian people by US and Israel and does not take into account our people’s demands, so we will continue to resist occupation,” he said. The Sharm el-Sheikh accords have been condemned by virtually all Palestinian opposition groups.
