Russian Ambassador approves detente policy of Iran

Russian envoy Alexander M. Kadakin stated on Monday: “As a diplomat and a Russian citizen I appreciate the initiative and the detente policy of Iranian government and I support it”. In an exclusive interview to IRNA the ambassador noted that Iran and Russia were having common views on regional and international issues because their civilizations were very close to each other. Referring to the letter of Imam Khomeini (RA) to Gorbachev and the meeting of Shewardnatze with the great leader of the Islamic Revolution, he said that it was the beginning of detente with Russia on the one hand and removing misunderstanding in the region on the other.
