Russia's gas monopolist Gazprom finalized a consolidated financial report for the first nine month of 2001 in accordance with IAS. It is one of the few Russian companies that has been releasing the results of its financial performance in line with international accounting standards for the forth year in a row. According to Gazprom's latest press release, the company's sales reached RUR443.7bn (about $14.29bn) as of September 30, 2001, increasing by 2 percent as compared point-for-point. Gas sales amounted to RUR365.98bn (about $11.78bn) including gas exports worth RUR257.67bn (about $8.29bn). In comparison, the same parameters for the first nine months of 2000 were RUR368.57bn and RUR257.02bn respectively.
Gazprom's operating expenses were RUR282.75bn (about $9.1bn), which is 11 percent lower than in the same period of 2000.
The operating profit grew by over 43 percent to RUR163.38bn (about $5.26bn) from January to September of 2001 against RUR113.95bn in the same period of the previous year.
