An agreement on economic and cultural cooperation between the Predgorny district of the Stavropol Territory, Russia and the municipality of Redina, Greece was signed on Saturday to mark the end of the Greek delegation's visit to the North Caucasus. The Stavropol Territory is one of Russia's southernmost regions. The agreement envisions creation in the Predgorny district of a Greek Education Centre as well as establishment of joint ventures, organization of trade fairs and exchange of delegations in such spheres as arts, sports, etc. It is the first such agreement between agro-industrial regions of Greece and Russia's North Caucasus. The Stavropol Territory is home to a large Greek diaspora, with as many as 15 local schools educating their pupils in the Greek language.
