Government To Consider Investment Program For Atomic Energy Through 2010

Today the Russian government will be presented an investment program for the Russian atomic energy industry through 2010. A source in the Atomic Ministry reported to journalists that this program stipulates making investments in 123 atomic facilities over the next ten years and, in particular, in 90 atomic facilities in 2002. In addition, the program stipulates the improvement of safety at already existing atomic stations and the construction of new reactors. 33.71 billion rubles (about $1.11 billion) will be allocated for these purposes next year. These investments will be allocated from non-budget sources.
