Russian Military Forces Not Ready for Effective Cooperation with EU Armies

In its current stage of development the Russian army is not ready for effective cooperation with European military structures. This opinion was voiced at the 'Russia and Europe - Brothers in Arms?' press conference by Dr. Vladimir Dvorkin, the director of the Centre for Strategic Nuclear Arms Issues.

Cooperation is impossible between rapid reaction forces. However, he added that technological cooperation, specifically regarding missile and air defence, is possible. 'We need a joint command structure for these forces in order to increase the effectiveness of cooperation,' stressed Dvorkin.
