Russia is interested in South Korean investments in the exploration of resources of the Eastern Siberia and Far Eastern regions, Russian Deputy Energy Minister Valentin Shelepov declared in Moscow at a meeting of the Russian-South Korean committee for cooperation in the sphere of energy and natural resources. The Korean delegation was headed by the Korean Deputy Minister of Commerce, Industry and Energy, the press service of the Russian Energy Ministry reported.
Participants of the meeting considered questions regarding the working out of a concept of Russian gas exports to countries of the Asia Pacific region and a program on creating a single system of gas production, transportation and supplies in the Eastern Siberia and Far Eastern regions, taking into account possible exports to countries of the Asia Pacific region.
Negotiators pointed out that the preparation of this program created favorable conditions for stable and long-term supplies of Russian gas to countries of the Asia Pacific region, including South Korea.
Moreover, the participants discussed possibilities for broadening bilateral cooperation in the coal sector, including Russian coal exports and investments in the Russian coal industry.
