The volume of debts of Gazprom's consumers decreased by 1.5bn rubles($47.54m) in the first seven months of 2002 and amounted to 42bn rubles($1.33bn) on August 1, 2002. Currently 95.6 percent of gas supplies arebeing paid off and 92.4 percent are paid off by money, the press service ofthe Russian gas giant told RosBusinessConsulting.The press service pointed out that the holding was actively implementing aset of measures aimed at providing stable functioning of the system of gassupplies in the fall-winter season. In particular, in 2002 the volume ofrepair activities on the gas production and transportation facilities hasincreased. Overhaul repairs of 281 wells, more than 500 kilometers of thelinear part of pipelines, 51 lines of submerged crossings and 116gas-distribution stations have been made.Gazprom has provided stable activity of its subsidiaries in gas production,processing and transportation this year and stable gas exports and suppliesto the domestic market, Alexey Miller the company's Chief ExecutiveOfficer, declared today.
