Mozambique: Cholera - 1 August, 2002

An outbreak of cholera has killed 560 people during the past year in Mozambique, according to hospital sources, out of a total number of cases for 2001/2002 of 41,528.

Jose Chivale, Mozambique’s Health Minister, declared that the incidence of the disease is worse in the centre and north of the country, due to sanitary complications after heavy rains.
