Tension is decreasing on the border between India and Pakistan. Islamabad and New Delhi have announced their intention to pull their armed forces back from the border region.
One day after New Delhi announced its intention to pull the Indian Armed Forces back from the frontier region, Islamabad replied by issuing the same statement. Pakistan described India’s initiative as “a step in the right direction”.
However, in Kashmir, the armed forces of both countries remain in a more confrontational formation, with shots being exchanged on a weekly, if not daily, basis.
