Vladimir Putin congratulates Russian Buddhists on Sagaalgan holiday, the press service of the Kremlin said.
The President said that the holiday marked the beginning of the New Year by the lunar calendar and symbolized openness, purity of mind and aspiration to moral renewal.
In his message, Putin noted that the values of Buddhism, timeless in their nature, had been serving noble goals for centuries, such as the unity of people, the strengthening of mutual understanding and cooperation. He stressed that Russian Buddhists "cherish and pass from generation to generation the unique spiritual heritage, contribute significantly to the harmonization of inter-ethnic and inter-religious dialogue in our country."
