Three Shiites killed in Baghdad

Three people were killed and at least 35 wounded early Wednesday when mortar rounds exploded near a Shiite shrine in northern Baghdad, police said.

The attack occurred as hundreds of thousands of people gathered at the Imam Mousa al-Kadim shrine in the capital's Kazimiyah district for the annual commemoration the death of the Shiite saint, the AP informs.

Four mortar rounds slammed into the crowd, killing 3 and wounding at least 35, police Maj. Falah Al-Mohammdawi said.
