Arbi Barayev's Associate Arrested

One of the closest associates of Arbi Barayev, a Chechen field commander notorious for his blood-freezing executions of imprisoned servicemen, has been arrested in Argun (20 km east of the Chechen capital of Grozny). According to the provisional police press centre at the Joint Group of Forces headquarters in Khankala, an unidentified person came to the city hospital with a gun wounds in his leg. He showed no identification papers to those in charge. Officers of the interim police department in Argun and the ones of the Federal Security Service immediately rushed to the hospital and identified the man. All necessary medical aid had been rendered to the wounded, then he was arrested. Earlier, Arbi Barayev had been killed by federal forces.
