The Bodies Of The Journalists Killed In Afghanistan Will Be Soon Brought To Dyushambe And Then To Moscow

The bodies of the foreign journalists, who were killed in Afghanistan on Sunday, will be brought in the near future to Dyushambe, reported the Embassy of Afghanistan in Moscow. It is expected that from Dyushambe the bodies of the journalists will be brought to Moscow. The German Embassy in Moscow has confirmed this information and reported that if the transportation of the body of the killed correspondent of the German journal Stern to his country is carried out via Moscow, the German diplomatic mission will do the job. According to the information of the German mass media, the name of the Stern correspondent is Volker Handleuk. Three foreign journalists - two French and one German - were killed last Sunday in Afghanistan. Apart from Handleuk, there were Johanne Sutton (34) from the Radio France International and Pierre Billaud (31) from the RTL radio station. The tank column of the Northern Alliance, in which six foreign journalists moved in a personnel armoured vehicle, ran into a Talib ambush in the Takhar Province in the area of the village of Kala-Kata. The armoured vehicle, in the open part of which the journalists sat, was shelled from grenade-launchers. Among the six journalists who were shelled, there were also special correspondent of the Montreal edition of La Gazette Leon Chevante and correspondent of the Sydney Morning Gerald whose name is unknown.
