On Thursday evening Russian Foreign Minister's Special Envoy Andrei Vdovin and Palestinian leader Yassir Arafat met in the city of Ramallah, the West Bank of the Jordan. They discussed political aspects of the latest events in the Middle East and international efforts to resume the peace process, Vafa, a Palestinian news agency said. This problem is "very important in the light of the situation in the region and international efforts to overcome violence and to implement the Mitchell plan," Andrei Vdovin told journalists. The Russian special envoy stressed the importance of boosting joint international efforts, particularly, of the USA, Russia, the European Union and the UNO, to resume and support the peace process in the Middle East.
