Warplanes spotted above Kiev

Two warplanes flew above the center of Kiev on February 18^th. Another plane, a propelled aircraft, was seen above the city soon afterwards. Members of the protest camp on Maidan said that the planes flew at a relatively high altitude.

Meanwhile, news messages from Kiev sound like reports from battlefield.  Protesters attacked the Pechorsky Directorate of Kiev Police. Nearly a thousand people, who were running by the building of the directorate, started to break windows in the building. They smashed surveillance cameras and threw a smoke grenade into the building.

The attackers also crushed several vehicles parked near the building. Law-enforcers managed to barricade themselves inside the building.

The people living in apartment buildings in the center of Kiev and shop owners cover their windows and doors with foam plastic to protect them from damage.

The smell of burning tires near Maidan is very strong.

People have to run from one building to another quickly, like during a war fire-fight. Four people have been killed in violent clashes on Tuesday, Feb 18.
