Gunman Kills Four in Pittsburgh Gym

A shooter opened fire at an LA Fitness gym outside Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, leaving at least four people dead and several others wounded Tuesday, police said.

"We have four confirmed deceased," said Charles Moffatt, Allegheny County Police Superintendent. "We have at least 10 wounded in various hospitals throughout the area."

The shooter, whose name was not immediately released, was among the fatalities, said Gary Vituccio, manager of Collier township, CNN reports.

"He did not say anything. He walked into the room as if he knew where he was going and pulled out the guns and began shooting," Charles Moffatt told reporters.

Joann Gazzam, a regular at the weekly Latin impact dance exercise class said a man came through the glass double doors at the exercise room's entrance.

He walked to the back of the room near some weights and set down a bag, fumbling with it for a few minutes before coming up with what appaered to be two guns and began shooting, Times Online reports.

Ashley Ogordowski, 23, of Muse, Washington County, said she was in an exercise class when the man came in and started shooting.

"I was crouched to the side with a girl who was not my friend . . . shoot . . . shoot . . . shoot," she said, sobbing.

She said she was told that several people had been wounded, including a friend of hers.

"All I want to do now is find out what happened to my friend."

The scene outside the fitness center was chaotic as dozens of ambulances, police cars, and other emergency vehicles converged on the area.

Tony Williams said his daughter, Melinda, 22, told him that she was in the aerobics area "when he came in with a bag and started shooting." He said he couldn't say what kind of weapon the gunman used, The Philadelphia Inquirer reports.
