General Dynamics Corp to replace Nick Chabraja in 2009
Former U.S. Navy admiral was designated as a new CEO of General Dynamics Corp.
Jay Johnson, currently chief of utility Dominion Virginia Power and already a member of General Dynamics' board of directors, will assume the company's control on July 1, 2009.
The current CEO of defense conglomerate is Nick Chabraja, 65, will remain on the board until 2010.
Admiral Jay L. Johnson served from 1996-2000 as 26th Chief of Naval Operations (CNO). He succeeded to the position following the death of Admiral Jeremy M. Boorda. Johnson is an Eagle Scout and recipient of the Distinguished Eagle Scout Award.
The replacement move emphasizes the importance of the company’s ship-building business.
