A serious accident occurred with a bus full of Russian tourists in France. Four people were killed - a Russian woman and three Polish citizens - and 30 injured as a result of the accident. Another Russian tourist had to undergo a serious and complicated surgery, the chief medical officer of a local hospital said. The doctors said that six French hospitals provided their help to those Russian citizens who suffered in the accident. Twenty-six Russian tourists are still staying at the hospitals.
A spokesperson for Tour Trance Voyage tourist agency said that there were 42 people in the group. The wife of one of the Polish drivers was the 43rd passenger in the bus. This woman, two drivers and a Russian tour guide Galina Shvets were killed in the crash. There were no children in the bus.
The body of the killed Russian woman will be delivered to Russia during the upcoming several days, a diplomat of the Russian Embassy in Paris said.
The journey of a group of Russian tourists coming from Moscow, Ekaterinburg and Ufa started in the city of Brest. The bus tour included several stops in Paris, Lyon and several other towns in the south of France before reaching its final destination - Milan. The tour bus collided with two trucks near the French town of Senlis. The police said that the accident took place when many cars started pulling over suddenly due to another car accident which happened on the road earlier. The accident took place about 70 kilometers far from Paris. The bus was traveling to Paris from Poland.
“Everyone in the bus could feel a sudden and a very powerful impact. There was no fire so we managed to open the doors and get out of the bus,” one of the passengers who wished to remain anonymous said.
Two helicopters and several ER vehicles took the Russian tourists to local hospitals.
