Monument to peeing dog erected in Vologda

The monument to a peeing dog has been erected in Russian town of Vologda.
The monument is is about the lamppost and the dog peeing onto it, and it is the part of the composition dedicated to 100th anniversary of electrification of Vologda.

The author of the monument, architect Elena Nikitina believes that “the sense of humor will help the town residents to perceive the unusual monument in the correct way”.
General director of Vologda power company Nikolai Rulev said that the lamppost is the copy of the one which was here one year ago, and is erected on the same place.

In 1904 Vologda State Duma examined the power station constructed in the town and allowed it to operate. Previously, the town residents used kerosene lamps. After the power station was launched, 35 lampposts were erected and 1,800 electric bulbs appeared in the apartments and offices.
