The Ice-Hockey Junior World Championship /for players under 20/ started in Canada on Thursday. The Russian team in group A won a landslide victory over the USA team 5:1.
In the first period, two goals had already been scored by Russian Aleksander Ovechkin.
In the second period, the Americans caught up with the Russian team by a goal, scored due to the efforts of Patrick O'Sullivan. However, before the second period ended, the active World Champions had no more doubts concerning the winner of the game: Kirill Koltsov scored the third goal and a little later set the first hat-trick of the Championship.
The final goal of the game was scored by Yury Trubachyov /1 goal, 2 assists/, who became the hero of the game together with Ovechkin.
In the other game of group A, the Swiss team defeated Belarus - 4:2.
Group B game results are as follows: Germany - Finland - 0:4; Canada - Sweden - 8:2.
The Russian team will play its next game on Saturday, December 28th, against the Slovakian team.
