St.Petersburg to host international taekwondo tournament

This weekend St Petersburg is to host an eleventh international tournament in taekwondo "Peter the Great Cup".

The St Pete Federation of Taekwondo reported the tournament would involve over 250 sportsmen from 12 countries. Among them are 2001 world championship bronze prize winner Maksim Sidorenko, 2000 Europe championship first prize winner Alexander Gusev and other prominent taekwondo masters.

The overall champion in the personal competition, the prizewinners in separate kinds of contests, as well as the champions in team competitions will be determined after the tournament.

The Peter the Great Cup has a status of an open Cup of Europe. It is held annually and is among the world's largest taekwondo tournaments.
