Putin and Obama discuss Ukrainian crisis in telephone conversation

Russian and US presidents Vladimir Putin and Barack Obama discussed the Ukrainian crisis in a telephone conversation, the press service of the Kremlin reports.

According to Forbes, Putin and Obama discussed objectives to ensure peaceful settlement of the Ukrainian conflict. The conversation was initiated by Washington.

"Putin gave a detailed assessment of the situation in the south-east of Ukraine, accentuating Russia's recent proposals that were being discussed, in particular, in preparation for the Minsk Summit on February 11," the Kremlin press service said.

Vladimir Putin and Barack Obama agreed on the importance of a political solution to the crisis in Ukraine, "cessation of bloodshed, protection of legitimate rights and interests of residents of all regions of Ukraine, including in the South-East," the press service also said.
