Georgia bans Soviet orders along with Nazi award pins

The authorities of Georgia, a republic of the former USSR, banned WWII Soviet orders together with award pins of Nazi troops.

The new regulations were added to the so-called "Freedom Charter" from 2011, which imposed restrictions on former employees of Soviet special services, former senior officials of the Communist Party and the Young Communist League. The charter also banned the use of fascist and communist symbols in public places. The charter also bans everything that is associated with Stalin and the Communist Party: the hammer and sickle, the Soviet star, monuments to Soviet politicians, etc.

Such policies thus continue the initiatives of Mikhail Saakashvili, who was taking measures against the memory of Joseph Stalin, renaming towns and destroying monuments of the Soviet period.
