The first ten Russian T-90 tanks have been delivered to India. In compliance with the agreement reached last year, 310 such tanks will be delivered to the country. In addition, India will receive a licence and technical documents for their production. The Indian defence ministry, the Star News TV channel reported on Friday, asked Moscow to step up the delivery of tanks in connection with the growth of tension on the border with Pakistan. This will make it possible to strengthen the defence security since the T-90 tanks are equipped with missiles capable of destroying the enemy's armoured vehicles. It is planned that 4-5 Indian armoured regiments will have these tanks. The task of these regiments is to contain the Pakistani corps armed with approximately 300 T-80U Ukrainian tanks. As distinct from them the T-90 tanks are equipped with heat vision devices, navigation system, enhanced armour defence, laser sights and a 125mm cannon capable of making 8 shots a minute and destroy the surface and low flying targets. This equipment allows the T-90 tanks to better operate during hostilities than the T-80U tanks.
