On February 10, one of Russia's largest satellite operators Tricolor TV cut the broadcast of notorious TV channel Dozhd (Rain). It was said that the channel would be removed from subscription packages in accordance with the agreement and obligations of the operator to subscribers.

The news of the intention of Tricolor TV to cut Dozhd from the list of broadcast packages was made public a week ago. The reason was formulated as "contradiction to editorial policy principles of the channel in forming data packages."

Previously, it was reported that the company would not stop broadcasting Dozhd and only issue a warning to the channel administration instead reminding of the possibility to terminate the contract should the channel preserve its incorrect policy.

As a result of the scandal involving with the survey that the channel conducted on the eve of the 70th anniversary of the siege of Leningrad, Russia's largest operators terminated their contracts with Dozhd. The channel has lost more than 80 percent of the audience. Spokespeople for the administration of the channel said that it would lead to the death of the channel and offered operators free broadcasting in their networks for one year. However, no one has accepted the channel's offer yet.

The TV channel wondered in its infamous survey whether one had to surrender Leningrad during the siege to save thousands of lives. The general public was outraged. The channel later apologized for the incorrect statement of the issue and removed survey from the site.
