The foreign ministers of Russia and Mozambique, Igor Ivanov and Leonardo dos Santos Simao, will discuss collaboration between their countries in the political, trade and economic spheres. RIA Novosti received this information at the Russian foreign ministry on Friday.
Official spokesman for the Russian foreign ministry Alexander Yakovenko said in an interview with RIA Novosti that the two foreign ministers will focus their attention during the talks on the struggle against the global challenges, above all against international terrorism. They will also exchange opinions on the situation in the Middle East and around Iraq.
Yakovenko pointed out that the sides will also discuss the situation in Africa, in particular, the sustainable development of the continent's countries in the context of the New Partnership for African Development programme.
Russia is ready to take part in the realisation of such its components as strengthening peace and stability in Africa, cooperation in supplying water and energy resources to the continent, training personnel for the educational and health systems. Our country greatly contributes to easing the debt burden of the continent's countries.
The ministers will also consider the settlement of conflict situations in Africa. Attention will be paid to the role the African Union, subregional organisations, including the Southern African Development Community, play in strengthening stability on the continent.
The heads of foreign policy departments will also discuss the stepping up of bilateral trade and economic cooperation.
