The International Film Festival on problems of the disabled--"Cinematography without Barriers"--opened in Moscow on Thursday. The film "Talks" (Great Britain) was screened on the first day of the festival.
A RIA Novosti correspondent reports that in the next days of the festival, each programme will be devoted to a special theme: Disabled Children, Education and Integration of the Disabled, Forming a Positive Opinion of Disability Problems in Society.
A total of 65 documentaries, feature films and animation cartoons will be screened. They have been selected from among the 135 application sent from twenty countries.
This is the first festival of this kind to have been held in Russia. It has been organised by the Regional Organisation of the Disabled "Perspective" with the support of the Moscow government and the International Rehabilitation Organisation.
Organisers said at a news conference that the festival "will disclose the great potential of disabled people and will show new approaches to the solution of the problem of disability." An Australian film, "Dance to My Music," will crown the festival.
