Tomorrow, the first ever in Russia international MAYDAY festival of electronic music will be held in the Yubileiny palace of sports in St. Petersburg. As this festival usually goes, there will be two performers' sites. Performing at the first one will be the adherents of the classical Techno who represent the mainstream in electronic music. The other site will be occupied by less classical Techno and Trans musicians. Because this is the first such event in Russia, emphasis will be made on just several basic styles, such as Techno, Electro, Funky, and Trance. Germans will bring unique lighting equipment, which, they say, 'Russia hasn't seen yet'. To keep the listeners maximally comfortable, their number will be kept down to 10,000. Disc jockeys from Italy, Holland, the US, Finland, Switzerland, Germany, and, of course, Russia are expected to attend. The festival will continue through the night and end at 8:45 a.m. on May 10. The MAYDAY festival was first held in Germany 12 years ago as an event for the support of the fashionable DT-64 radio station. No one could imagine it would grow into the most significant in the world event of Techno-culture. Since then, the festival has been held in Berlin, Koln, Dortmund, and Frankfurt-am-Mine, attendance fluctuating between 5,000 to 34,000 young people from all over Europe. Soon, the festival will be also held in Poland, Hungary, and Australia.
