6th International Maritime and Aerospace Exhibition, LIMA-2001, was opened Tuesday on the Malaysian island of Langkawi. It will involve more than 350 firms from 32 countries. Russian exposition organized by the Rosoboronexport state enterprise will show a large variety of aircraft and anti-aircraft systems. It includes all export modifications of Su aircraft, such as the Su-27SK and Su-30MK fighters, as well as the Su-33 ship-based aircraft. The Su-30MK two-seat multi-purpose aircraft, the only batch-produced aircraft in the world equipped with a thrust-vectoring engine, will show its unrivalled manoeuvrability. The visitors of the show will also see the products of the Russian MiG corporation. Primarily, that will be the MiG-29MRCA multi-purpose fighter of the 4+ generation. Apart from this, MiG will provide detailed information on the MiG-31E interceptor, MiG-AT training aircraft, as well as on the upgraded Mig-21-93 second generation aircraft. Russian experts believe that the South Asian states, as well as those of the Asia-Pacific region will be interested in the Russian anti-aircraft systems exhibited at LIMA-2001, namely the Tor-M1, Osa-AKM, Igla and the Buk-M1-2 guided-missile anti-aircraft systems. Russian exposition also includes wide range of Russian ships of low and medium displacement. These types of vessels are of great demand in South Eastern Asia and the Asian-Pacific region. The exhibited maritime hardware includes the Mangust, Mirazh, Merkury and the Yastreb high speed patrol boats. Their combat efficiency, characteristics and reliability can challenge the best foreign vessels of the same class. At the same time, in case the customer needs it, the aforementioned ships can be adjusted for installation of various non-Russia-made armament systems. The Russian maritime exposition also includes the Svyetlyak seaward patrol craft, the Molniya guided-missile boat, as well as the Chilim, Rys, Irbis, Murena and the Zubr air-cushion boats. The submarine exposition includes the 636 project with the Klab-S integrated guided-missile system. Besides, potential customers might be interested in the Amur-1650 and Amur 950 projects, the next generation of submarines, which employ the brand-new technologies of the XXIst century.
